New-generation common rail technology injects precisely-measured doses of fuel into the combustion chamber under a pressure of 2,000 bar, extracting maximum efficiency and enabling even smoother running. The four-cylinder diesel power unit in the BMW 320d needs less than 5 litres of fuel per 100 km and reaches its maximum engine speed at just 1,750 rpm. Yet it's responsive enough to propel the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds.
All BMW diesel engines are fitted with particle filter as standard and meet EU5 emission requirements (approved as EU5 in line with the EU5 incoming legislation).
